What Does Top Two Pair Mean?

What does the term "top two pair" mean in the world of poker? What is the definition of the term "top two" or "top two pair"?

In poker, "top two pair" refers to when you hold cards in your hand that give you the two highest possible pairs based on what is currently on the board.

Top Two Pair - Definition and example by Poker King.

For instance - let's say that the board reads Js-Qs-7d after the flop and you have Jd-Qd in your hand.

In this case, you would have "top two pair", as you have Jacks and Queens.

"Top two pair" is obviously a very strong hand in poker. In the situation listed above, you would be ahead of most hands after a flop like this, as your opponent would need to have a set in order to be ahead. Given that you hold a Jack and Queen in your hand, the odds of your opponent having a set would be quite low. Of course, this board would leave you open to a possible flush or straight, depending on what was dealt on the turn and river.
