There can be no doubt about it; Juan Carlos Mortensen has pulled off one of the most impressive feats of all-time in poker, by winning both the World Series of Poker and now, the World Poker Tour Championship.
This understated, almost shy player has been consistently overlooked for a long while now. When you think of the top tournament players in the world, do you think of Mortensen? Probably not, but how many other poker players have won the World Poker Tour championship and the World Series of Poker main event, in addition to winning other big events (including a $5000 Limit Hold'em bracelet at the WSOP 2003 and the WPT Doyle Brunson event in 2004.)
Hopefully now Mortensen will start to command some of the respect that he definitely deserves. And also, you can not help but marvel at some of the magnificent towers that Mortensen creates out of poker chips. We are sure that you have probably seen some of these online, they are truly special.
Mortensen seems to have his A game heading into the World Series of Poker. Watch out, as he just might win another bracelet, especially with the heavy schedule at this year's event.
