Pokerstars Releases 2009 SCOOP Schedule

spring championship of online poker - scoop - pokerstars - 2009The WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) is by far the most successful single online poker tournament series in the world.

Many players have been asking the management at Pokerstars to run the series more than once a year, similar to what Full Tilt Poker does with the FTOPS.

The higher-ups at Pokerstars have been pretty adamant about keeping the WCOOP as an annual event. The WCOOP is by far the most prestigious of the online poker tournament events, and running it multiple times per year would take away from the grandness of the event.

So instead, Pokerstars has decided to unveil a new spring tournament series. I'm not exactly sure what it will officially be called - the original working name was SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker).

Anyways, the event begins on April 2nd and concludes on April 12th.

There will be a total of $30 million dollars in guaranteed prize money.

There will be a total of 22 "events" - however, each event will comprise of a low, medium and high buy-in tournament.

For instance, Event 1 will be NL Hold'em with Rebuys (6-Max).

Within this event, there will be three individual tournaments with varying buy-ins and guaranteed prize pools.

For instance, there will be a $5.50 buy-in tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000 (No Limit Hold'em with Rebuys [6-Max]).

There will be a $55 buy-in tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000 (No Limit Hold'em with Rebuys [6-Max]).

Lastly, there will also be a $530 buy-in tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 (No Limit Hold'em with Rebuys [6-Max]).

A player can choose to play in all three tournaments if they so desire.

I have included the tournament schedule below. This schedule offers something for everybody, and so far the response from the poker playing public has been pretty positive.
