European Poker Tour - LogoThe "Super High Roller" event at the EPT Grand Final got underway earlier today.

The event featured a buy-in of 100k EUR, which is the equivalent of about $131,500 USD. According to Pokerstars, this is the largest single tournament buy-in event in the history of the European Poker Tour.

The turnout for the "Super High Roller" event has been strong - the final numbers have not been released as of yet, but according to my count, at least 38 people have entered the tournament so far.

Some of the names that turned out for the event:

Daniel Negreanu
Phil Ivey
Patrik Antonius
Viktor Blom
Erik Seidel
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Gus Hansen

For comparison's sake, 22 people turned out for the $100k AUD (about $103k USD) event at the Aussie Millions earlier this year, so the EPT has to be overjoyed with this turnout.

The tournament has just reached its first dinner break - early leaders are Jonathan Duhamel and Tony G.
