Daniel Negreanu - Leading the WPT Super High Roller event - wsupppDespite the absence of players such as Phil Ivey and Howard Lederer, the $100,000 WPT World Championship Super High Roller event ended up with a very impressive field of 29 players.

Most people were guessing that the field size for the Super High Roller event would end up being around 12-15 players - I don't think that too many people were predicting that nearly 30 people would end up turning out for the event.

At the time that this article was written, 21 of the original 29 entrants were still alive in the event. Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo currently sits at the top of the leaderboard with a stack of 1.33 million (average stack size is 476k), while Erick Lindgren is in second place with 1.13 million chips.

Daniel Negreanu, who decided at the last minute to enter the event (versus playing on his golf simulator at home), currently has the fourth largest stack (820k chips).

Some of the other notable names who are still alive at this point include:

Ashton Griffin - 678k
Yevgeniy Timoshenko - 480k
Tony G - 440k
Gabe Kaplan - 190k
Erik Seidel - 175k

Phil Laak, Phil Galfond and Dan Cates were all eliminated from the tournament just a few short hours into the day.
