Deeb Looking To Win His Third WPT Title on Monday
Published on 2009-10-26 09:41:00Freddy Deeb is leading the WPT Festa al Lago main event heading into the final table on Monday afternoon.
If Deeb wins on Monday, he will tie Gus Hansen for the most WPT titles ever (three).
Freddy Deeb currently has around $6.3 million dollars in lifetime tournament earnings. A win on Monday would give him an additional $1.22 million dollars in lifetime earnings, which would bump Deeb up to around 19th on the all-time money list.
Deeb obviously has plenty of work to do to win this tournament. There are a number of strong players that also made it to the final table, and Deeb's current chip advantage is fairly small (he is less than 200k ahead of Shawn Cunix, who has around 3.67 million in chips heading into Monday).
Freddy Deeb seems to fly under the radar in most tournaments that he plays in, despite the fact that he has accumulated a number of major victories throughout his poker career.
Here is a partial list of some of Deeb's accomplishments so far in his career:
-two World Series of Poker bracelets
-a bracelet in the very tough $50k HORSE event in 2007
-15 WSOP final table appearances
-two WPT titles
-11 money finishes in WPT events
-$6.3 million dollars in total lifetime earnings
I don't think that many people consider Freddy Deeb to be an "elite" tournament player, however his results say otherwise.
Deeb's quest for a third WPT title will begin at noon local time on Monday afternoon.
