2011 WCOOP Easily Surpasses Guaranteed Prize Pool of $30 Million

This year's WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) on Pokerstars finished with a total prize pool of $47,120,800, despite the fact that most American players (aside from those who have relocated in different countries) were unable to play.
The $47 million+ prize pool easily exceeded the $30 million figure that Pokerstars had guaranteed.
Since its inception in 2002, the WCOOP has awarded well over $260 million in prize money over a total of 290 events. Here is a breakdown by year:

The 2011 WCOOP was the third largest in the history of the event, trailing only 2010 ($63,157,150) and 2009 ($50,058,800).
