2011 SCOOP Easily Surpasses Total Guaranteed Prize Pool of $25 Million
Published on 2011-05-22 21:13:00Despite the fact that American players were unable to participate, this year's edition of the SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) on Pokerstars ended up with a total combined prize pool of well over $40 million.
This figure easily surpassed the total guaranteed prize pool of $25 million.
As of yesterday, Pokerstars was reporting that 102,343 unique players from 155 different countries decided to participate in this year's edition of the SCOOP. These 102k+ players combined for a total of over 350,000 buy-ins over the first 35 events of the series.
The main events, which got underway just a few hours ago, all ended up easily surpassing their guarantees.
The High buy-in main event, which had a total guaranteed prize pool of $2.5 million, ended up with a total prize pool of $3.8 million.
The Medium buy-in main event, which had a total guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million, ended up with a total prize pool of $2.5 million.
The Low buy-in main event, which had a total guaranteed prize pool of $750k, ended up with a total prize pool of nearly $1.7 million.

While this year's SCOOP obviously took a major hit due to "Black Friday", Pokerstars has to be ecstatic about the turnout.
