Event #4 of USA COOP Ends With $350k+ Overlay

The King is trying to figure out the large overlay in a recent tournamentEvent #4 of the USA Championship of Online Poker ($320 NLHE) on Pokerstars ended up with an overlay of over $350,000. The event, which got underway earlier this evening, had a total guarantee of $750,000.

A minimum of 2,500 players were expected to turn out for this event (based on the amount of the guarantee), but instead just 1,326 people ended up registering to play. The big miss happened despite the fact that word of the massive overlay spread quickly through the major online poker forums and on Twitter.

The massive overlay is obviously good news to everybody that is still alive in the tournament, and bad news for Pokerstars. The late start time (9:30 pm EST start time, really?) and the tournament's close proximity to Thanksgiving are both being blamed as the major reasons behind the $350k+ overlay.

Given the very large overlay in Event #4, it seems unlikely that the main event of the USA COOP this Sunday (November 28th) won't have a sizable overlay as well.
