pokerstars poker room - sunday hundred grand - logoThe beast that is the "Sunday Hundred Grand" on Pokerstars continues to grow in size.

The tournament, which has a $10 + $1 buy-in, started out with a 10,000 player cap. It has regularly filled to capacity, which has led Pokerstars to continually increase the maximum player cap on the tournament.

They have increased the size of the tournament once again, now allowing a total of 22,500 players to participate. This makes it by far the largest weekly poker tournament online.

Even after increasing the cap to 22,500 players, Pokerstars still was able to fill the tournament, leading a person to wonder: how many people would play if there were no cap at all? 30,000? 35,000? More?

Here's a few interesting facts and figures:

-Pokerstars makes $22,500 in total rake every time this tournament runs

-the total prize pool is an incredible $225k

-first place gets paid $20,250.00, making this tournament an incredibly attractive proposition for a low limit grinder

-the top 3375 players get paid

The tournament is getting so big in size that even some of the top players are starting to participate on a weekly basis. The tournament is certainly a crapshoot with its current structure, but you can't deny the value in playing for a $20k+ first place prize for just $11.
