So, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were in Vegas for the charity poker tournament which benefited the Darfur region of the Sudan. 170 professional poker players and celebrities played in the event on Thursday. Play was highlighted by a lot of celebrities and a lot of drinking.
Anyways, after the tournament was over, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck move over to the High Limit No Limit Hold'em game that was going over at the Rio. More specifically, it was a $100/$200 No Limit Hold'em game, that included the likes of Danny Alaei, Bob Bright and Gabe Thaler. Damon and Affleck had the 3 and 4 seats reserved, and soon sat down and took their spots. Totally wasted.
Anyways, the two players had fun, chatting it up with the other players at the table and saying hello to fans. Soon enough, a big hand came up with involved Ben Affleck.
The flop comes J 8 2 I believe, and after a bunch of raising and re-raising, Danny Alaei and Ben Affleck get all of their money into the middle, creating a $70,000 pot. The turn and river come running 5's, and Affleck mucks his cards, and Alaei takes the pot.
Now, given Affleck's severely drunken state, many are speculating that he actually had an overpair, something like Kings or Aces, and didn't realize that he had actually won the pot. He mucked his cards without showing.
Others were speculating that he was gambling, holding something like 9T, or maybe had something like AJ. Whatever he held, he busted, and didn't rebuy (probably not a bad idea considering his intoxicated state.) Damon and Affleck stood up, thanked everyone for the game, and left.
