Has there been a more dominant player in the first half of 2007 than J.C. Tran?

J.C. Tran was recognized for his accomplishments so far this year by the World Poker Tour, who awarded Tran the title of WPT Player of the Year. Tran scorched the World Poker Tour circuit, making three final tables and taking down a tournament.

First, Tran finished sixth at the World Poker Open Championship, taking home $142k for his efforts. Then, he followed this up by finishing second at the L.A. Poker Classic, finishing second to Eric Hershler and taking down a second place prize of $1.177 million dollars. Then, Tran won a tournament of his own, finishing first at the World Poker Challenge, securing a first place prize of just under $700k and winning a seat to the WPT Championship, which ended up being won by Juan Carlos Mortensen.

Tran is an extremely aggressive player who is currently enjoying a hot streak. He joins Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Daniel Negreanu and Gavin Smith as fellow World Poker Tour players of the year.

Tran will look to build on his strong year at the World Series of Poker. Don't be surprised to see Tran make a final table or ten at the WSOP.
