Sharkscope - www.sharkscope.com
If you've ever been playing at a table and someone has mentioned your SNG ROI (Sit and Go, Return on Investment), they most likely obtained the information at Sharkscope.com.
Sharkscope is a massive database that tracks Sit and Go results from a wide variety of different sites. According to their home page, the site has over 160 million tournament results currently logged in their database. The sites that they currently track are Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker, Party Poker and a number of others.
Sharkscope is free on a limited basis. They allow you to execute up to five searches per day. If you wish to perform more searches on a daily basis, then they give you the option of purchasing greater access to the database. For most people though, the five searches per day is more than enough.
How does it work?
Head on over to the site and click on "Search Database" in the upper left-hand corner. You have the option of either entering a player's name, or a tournament ID. Then you choose the site that you want to search.
Let's say that you played in a SNG on Full Tilt Poker, and you want to pull up the results from the tournament. Simply enter the tournament ID, make sure that "Full Tilt Poker" is selected, and then click search. You will see the results from the Sit and Go, along with the total profit and loss for each player that participated in this particular tournament.
Most people use Sharkscope to look up the stats of a particular player. To do that, simply enter in the player's name, make sure that "Player Name" is selected in the tab next to that field, choose the site that you want to search, and then click on "search".
We chose to search for "ElkY" on Pokerstars.
You will be greeted with a wide array of different information. In the top half of the screen, you will see the player's name followed by a number of fields, including:
Games Played
Average Profit
Average Stake
Average ROI
Total Profit
These are all fairly self-explanatory. Again, ROI means "Return on Investment".
In this case, you can see that ElkY has not done particularly well in Sit and Go's on Pokerstars. He has played 20,502 total games and has lost an average of $14 per SNG.
Underneath this information, you will find three graphs that include his overall profit/loss vs how many games he has played, his ROI distribution based on the levels that he is playing at, and also the number of games that he has played at various levels.
There are also a number of other features that are available just to subscribers, including the SharkScope HUD and various other advanced searching capabilities.
Sharkscope is a full-featured and extremely popular site that is used by thousands of players every day. Keep in mind though that Sharkscope is banned at Pokerstars. This means that you might want to think twice about visiting Sharkscope during your session on Pokerstars, or you just might find your account getting closed.
Sharkscope can be a powerful tool when used properly. It can help you to identify the weaker players at the table based on their lifetime ROI (return on investment), as well as the stronger players that you might want to avoid tangling with.
