Einhorn Eliminated From Tournament After 45 Minutes of Play

David Einhorn - WSOP - The Big One for One DropHedge fund manager David Einhorn had the dubious honor of being the first player to be eliminated from the $1,000,000 BIG ONE For ONE DROP event that got underway earlier today.

Einhorn, who is the founder and President of Greenlight Capital, is one of the most feared and respected hedge fund managers in the world. If Einhorn publicly declares that he doesn't like a company, chances are that they will drop precipitously in value immediately.

Einhorn has parlayed his success into a formidable net worth that currently sits at well over a billion dollars.

Sure, $1,000,000 to Einhorn is not much money, but being eliminated from the BIG ONE For ONE DROP after just 45 minutes of play still stung the hedge fund manager.

To make matters worse, Einhorn was 100% sure that he was going to win the hand that he was eliminated in. With the board reading 2h-Jc-6d-3s-Qc, Einhorn called an all-in from Sam Trickett while holding pocket Jacks. Einhorn looked on in disbelief as Trickett, who finished second in the 2012 BIG ONE For ONE DROP, turned over 4c-5c for the turned straight.

Einhorn stared at the board and then slowly made his way out of the tournament area. Here is what he had to say via his Twitter account about the hand:

"Ok. That didn't go well. First one out. Couldn't make it an hour. Tough hand. ... Try again at the main event. :("
