Earlier this week, the World Series of Poker announced that ten finalists have been named for possible induction into the 2012 Poker Hall of Fame.
These ten names are:
Brian "Sailor" Roberts
Up to two of these ten names will be heading into the 2012 Poker Hall of Fame. Current Hall of Famers, including the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson, as well as a "blue ribbon panel of media members" will ultimately decide who gets into the Poker Hall of Fame this year.
The criteria for entering the Poker Hall of Fame?
-must have played against top competition
-must be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination
-played for high stakes
-played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
-stood the test of time
-for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with "indelible positive and lasting results".
This year's induction ceremony will take place as part of the WSOP main event final table festivities next month.
There are currently 42 people in the Poker Hall of Fame, with 18 living members.
