2011 WCOOP Easily Surpasses Guaranteed Prize Pool of $30 Million
There are still a couple of WCOOP tournaments that have yet to finish (including the main event), but the final prize pool numbers are now in.
This year's WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) on Pokerstars finished with a total prize pool of $47,120,800, despite the fact that most American players (aside from those who have relocated in different countries) were unable to play.
The $47 million+ prize pool easily exceeded the $30 million figure that Pokerstars had guaranteed.
Since its inception in 2002, the WCOOP has awarded well over $260 million in prize money over a total of 290 events. Here is a breakdown by year:
WCOOP 2011 - $47,120,800
