Jason Mercier, Faraz Jaka Make NAPT Mohegan Sun $25,000 Bounty Shootout Final Table

-- NAPT - Mohegan Sun - North American Poker Tour - Pokerstars - Tournament logo -- 35 of the top poker players in the world took part in the first round of the NAPT Mohegan Sun $25,000 Bounty Shootout on Monday afternoon.

Each of the 35 players paid $25,000 to participate in the event, which ended up creating a main prize pool of $680,000, as well as an additional $170,000 in bounties.

There were a total of five six-handed tables in the first round of the shootout, as well as one five-handed table. The winner of the six-handed tables received $60,000, while the winner of the five-handed table received $50,000. On top of this, the players were also awarded $5,000 for each player that they eliminated from the tournament.

The six players who managed to advance to Tuesday's final table were:

Matt Glantz, Sam Stein, Shawn Buchanan, Jason Mercier, Faraz Jaka and Luiz Vazquez

Glantz, Stein, Buchanan, Mercier and Jaka all won $60,000 for making it through six-handed tables, while Vazquez took home $50,000 for winning the single five-handed table.

Shawn Buchanan and Luiz Vazquez collected the most bounties (four) in the first round, as Buchanan was able to eliminate Marcello Delgrosso, Scott Paston, Joe Cassidey and Steve Sung, while Vazquez was able to eliminate Tom Marchese, Curt Kohlberg, Peter Jetten and Greg Debora. Stein, Jaka and Mercier all collected three bounties in their first round match-ups, while Matt Glantz collected two.

The winner of tomorrow's final table will take home $350,000, as well as any extra bounties that are picked up during Tuesday's action.

A number of well-known names participated in this event, including Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Greg Raymer, Sorel Mizzi and Ashton Griffin.

This event is being taped for broadcast on ESPN2 in early May. The first two hours will air from 9-11 pm on May 3rd, while the final hour will be shown at 9 pm on May 10th.

Good luck to all of the final table participants.
