Williams Outlasts Kostritsyn To Take Down WCOOP Bracelet

Poker pros are starting to flex their muscles in the 2009 WCOOP, as another well-known player has managed to take home a WCOOP bracelet.

David "RugDoctor" Williams managed to outlast 244 other players to take down the $2,100 8-Game event early Sunday morning. The tournament was (obviously) loaded with some very good players, and Williams had to work for every penny of his $107,800.

Williams bested Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn in heads up play to take down the title. "joiso" still went home with over $75k for his impressive finish.

The final hand of the tournament saw Williams hit an ace-high flush on the river to best Kostritsyn's queen-high straight in seven-card stud.

Some of the other well-known names at the final table included Van "Sirens" Marcus and Matt "plattsburgh" Vengrin.

This tournament easily surpassed its guarantee, with the final prize pool clocking in at an impressive $490,000 (vs $350k guarantee). The top 36 places paid.
