One of those players is Scotty Nguyen, who is currently sitting as the tournament chip leader heading into Day 6 of the event.

The winner of the WPT Championship will receive $2.15 million dollars, as well as the WPT title.

Scotty Nguyen is currently 5th on the all-time money list, having made a total of $10.465 million dollars over his career.

Four players have made more than Nguyen over their careers:

1. Jamie Gold ($12.19 million dollars)
2. Daniel Negreanu ($11.28 million dollars)
3. Phil Hellmuth Jr. ($10.84 million dollars)
4. Joe Hachem ($10.75 million dollars)

With a victory at the WPT Championship this Saturday, Nguyen would leapfrog Hachem, Hellmuth, Negreanu and Gold to take the lead.

A win on Saturday would give Nguyen approximately $12.61 million dollars in lifetime tournament earnings, which would be more than enough to vault him into the #1 position.

Nguyen has an excellent shot at winning this tournament.

He has the chip lead with ten players left.

He has the most experience of any player at the table.

He can close tournaments (5 WSOP bracelets, 1 WPT title).

A win would move Nguyen into the lead on the all-time tournament money list. Anything less and Jamie Gold would retain the #1 spot.

Can Scotty do it?
