poker player gus hansen - playing at full tilt poker roomAccording to Highstakesdb.com, Gus Hansen is on another heater in July. Not only is he putting in a ton of hands (25,257 so far this month), but he is also doing extremely well, and is currently up over $820k on the month so far.

For Hansen, this is not that unusual. Every so often, Gus will go on a rampage, making hundreds of thousands of dollars (and sometimes millions) over a short period of time on the site. He will be four or five-tabling the highest limit cash games on Full Tilt, (usually Pot Limit Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and H.O.R.S.E.) and destroying his competition.

Then, just as quickly, everything will fall apart, and Hansen will give back all of his gains (and then some). It has happened multiple times before - there is a reason why Gus Hansen is one of the biggest losers on the site since the beginning of 2007. He'll go on these mad rushes and hit every flop in sight - then all of a sudden, his good luck will turn into bad, and he will get flattened.

As mentioned, since the beginning of July, Hansen is one of the biggest winners on Full Tilt Poker, having cleared over $820k. Since the beginning of 2008 though, Hansen is still down over $880k on the site, making him the seventh biggest loser (behind "lady marmelade", "patatino", "Bleachbum", "Ziigmund", "noataima" and Patrik Antonius).

When you run the stats starting from January of 2007, Hansen's numbers are even worse. Since that time, HighstakesDB.com has tracked 236,249 hands that involved Gus Hansen - he has lost a total of $1.615 million dollars. Before his run in July, Hansen was down over $2 million dollars on the site over the past 18 months.

Don't feel too bad for Hansen though - he has well over $3 million dollars in tournament cashes since the beginning of 2007, and is also a member of "Team Full Tilt" (which is worth millions of dollars to Hansen in terms of equity in the company and monthly payouts).

The big question is: can Hansen hold on to his July gains, or will he give them all back as he has done in the past?
